A break. . .

I guess we can say that I have been on somewhat of a blogging break.  I just have not been motivated to sit down at the computer.  I blame all the Apple products in my home.  They make it too easy for me, and now going to my desktop feels like such a troublesome chore.

We are also currently on a break from Sports, and hunting as well.  Just for the month of February though.  It will all start back up again in March with baseball and Turkey season.
We ended our basketball season in late January.  The team did not have the best record, but I think they learned a bunch.  And they ended the season playing better than they had ever played.
Next year Big10 will be old enough to try out for the middle school basketball team.  I'm not sure how that will go, but I'm looking forward to school sports.
So, I have a little time to get my life back on track this month.  I am working hard to make exercise a priority.  I tell myself I am going to workout on a regular basis ALL the time.  This time, I'm going to try to stick to it.  So far, I have worked out 4 days this week.  For those of you that know me well, know that more than two days is a big accomplishment.  Once I get the exercise part down, then I'll worry about my horrible eating habits.  Summer is coming, and the lake & beach are calling my name.  I need to be ready!

I'm hoping that I am done with my blogging break.  I'm not doing a very good job of keeping record of our life like this, huh?

Hoops

I Love basketball.  Especially when my little man is on the court.
Right now on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays we are busy playing ball.  So far, the team has not won a game.  But they are making huge improvements.  They have gotten more competitive each time.
Big10 is wearing the #3, and somehow has managed to be the smallest kid on the team again.

I am hoping that they can pull out a couple of wins before this season is over.  But, I think overall he is having a good time anyway.  But I know a win would make it even better.  Wish us luck!

'Tis the Season. . .

'Tis the season. . . basketball season, that is.
Basketball practice has been in full swing for the past two weeks.  We should be getting our schedule this Tuesday night, but I think we will have two games in early December.  So, I have a very short time period to study up on getting good sports/motion photos.  Not to mention "Gym photography", it's just not the easiest thing in the world for me.  But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Big10 was invited to play on a team with a few boys from the Middle School.  He was so excited to get into a more competitive league this time around, and be playing with some boys that he already know.  All of these boys will be eligible to try out for the middle school team next year, so this is some great practice.
I'm still not really sure why, but basketball is big10's absolute favorite sport to play.  And I love watching him play!  I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this season.

Upward Celebrations

This week has brought us to the end of another wonderful Upward year.
I love Upward basketball and cheerleading, and so do the kids.
This week we had some celebrating to do.

It all started Thursday night with the cheerleader party.  The cheer coaches really did a good job setting things up and planning the perfect party for the girls.  They made charm bracelets and necklaces, and then moved on to the manicure station.  And of course they had some yummy snacks!!
They received their megaphones stuffed with candy at the end of the night.

Friday night we had the league wide Upward celebration.
The entertainment for the night was pretty amusing.  The kids loved it.
All the teams were called on to the stage for introductions.  This is what G did when they called her name. . . .
The girls also did their half time cheer for everyone.
Big10 is not hardly as silly as G when in front of a (very) large crowd.  He barley stepped forward when his name was called and threw out a quick wave.
After introductions they passed out door prizes, and both of my kids names were drawn for door prizes.  They were pretty excited about it.  It was our lucky night.  The Upward prizes this year were basketballs for the players, and the cutest frame for the cheerleaders. The frame is just perfect for her squad photo.

We are already looking forward to next year.  They both announced as we were leaving that they are definitely participating again next time!!

Today was another busy day of celebrating for G's 7th birthday.  Her birthday is actually not until the 17th, but we went ahead and scheduled the party early due to spring break.  I'll be back soon with some of the cutest pictures I have ever seen!!  Stay tuned. . .

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend has been fabulous.  We started out Friday night with big10 having a sleep over.  BabyG has had friends over for the past two weekends, b10 finally decided it was his turn I guess.  We played a tear filled game of Monopoly that night.  That game never ends well!!
Saturday we had basketball and cheering to mark off the list.
BabyG ended up going home with a friend for a play date, and now that friend is here for another play date today.

Earlier in the week we all got haircuts.  G decided to get bangs. . .
She is looking a little too grown up for my liking, but I think she looks precious.
{I caught G chatting it up with a friend during Big10's game.}

We visited a new church this morning and we all just loved it.  It is much smaller than what we are accustomed to.  It is an older church with stained glass windows, and they actually still use Hymnals!  We know a lot of the members, and everyone was so friendly.  The kids know the entire congregation!! :)

Not much else is going on.  I picked up a few things at Wal Mart last night to complete the bathroom makeover.  I can't wait to see how it turns out.  I'll be sharing pictures soon, so stay tuned.

Now I'm off to try and enjoy the rest of this weekend.  I hope you will do the same.

3 Pointers & Pom Pom's

Saturday was opening day of basketball season for the kids.  I am really growing to love this sport.  Almost as much as I love baseball.  Almost.
This is the first year for big10 to play full court, and boy is it a difference.  All that running is just exhausting.
He had a great game though, and he made an awesome 3 point shot.
They were down for a while, but came back in the last few minutes to finish 18-20.  I think next week we will get a win.
G did a great job cheering on her team later on in the day and looked fabulous doing it.
She has more friends on her squad this year than last year, and she is LOVING cheering with her girls.
Next week I am hoping to have a better view of the cheerleaders.  And I'm excited because our games will be back to back, no waiting period in between.
Today we are all home for a snow day.  I am a little disappointed in the amount of snow we got.  The ground is lightly covered, but I was hoping for enough to play in.  The kids were really looking forward to building a snow man and having snow cream.  Boo hoo. . .maybe we will get another chance before the winter ends.
So I guess I will just enjoy this free day, and get geared up for the BCS Championship tonight.  I have a feeling it's going to be a good one!!

The Home Court Advantage

Mercury lit up the court again today.
The boys are doing a great job and having MUCH fun!
