Awards Day ~ First Grade

Yes, I realize it has been quite some time since this event actually took place.  Almost a whole month to be exact.  But I cannot let the entire Summer pass me by before posting about my baby girls first grade awards celebration.
 Luckily for me, the first graders had awards day on the same day as fifth grade graduation.  As it worked out, I was able to take off work the full day and attend graduation that morning, and then G's celebration after lunch.  We just made a day of it.  Big10 was able to come to G's class with me and watch her presentation.
They sang three or four songs, and put on several short plays for the parents.
I was so proud of how well G did with her parts in the two plays that she put on.  She was not the least bit shy or nervous.  And she was SO expressive!!
 The first grade teachers at our school give candy themed awards to each child.  Such as, Gummy worms for the wiggle worm in the group.

Baby G received a special new award that Mrs. Green created this year.  She received the PB&J award (a jar of PB & a jar of Jelly).  Mrs. Green knew early on in the year, and actually emailed me telling me, that she and G were going to be stuck together like Peanut Butter and Jelly all year.
 And they were.
 We are so thankful for Mrs. Green.  She was a wonderful first grade teacher and did such an excellent job with our little ball of energy.  She really understood G's personality, and just had a way of working with her.
In just a couple of short months we will be heading to the second grade.  I do not know any of the second grade teachers and am just praying that we are blessed with another wonderful teacher for the upcoming year.

Until then, we are going to continue enjoying the Summer while it is here.
Maybe do a little more swimming!  And more reading.  The girl is on a reading marathon this Summer.  I have not even had to remind her to read, she is loving it!

Art Night ~ Going Green

Thursday night was the annual Night of Aspiring Artists at the school.  This is always a fun night for the whole family.  The kids sing a couple of songs and preform a dance/skit for parents.  And we are able to see all of their art work from the year on display.
This year the them was "Going Green".  All of the art was made using only recyclable materials.
This is babyG with Mother Nature.
 {a.k.a Mrs. Green, or the best 1st grade teacher in the universe.}
I had so many pictures of G with her girlfriends that I had a hard time picking just one to post.
It was exactly the opposite with big10.  I had to resort to posting this blurred, side view photo!!  I'll take what I can get.
One of big10's pieces.
And one of G's pieces.
And my favorite thing of the whole night was found in G's classroom on her desk.  Note:  #6 When I grow up I want to be a Mommy.
{Oh yeah, and a pet nursy.}
I really loved both of the kids "shows".  G always goes all out with her dancing and singing, she is a rock star.  But this year, even Big10 put on a show.  I was so proud of him for how well he danced and sang.  He really had a good time and enjoyed it!

We have been so busy that I have barely had time to update my blog.  So much for keeping up with our memories!!  I just uploaded 127 pictures from yesterday's activities alone. . . .so I've got some more post coming in the near future.  Until then. . . .have a great Sunday!

My Aspiring Aritsts

Tuesday night was the annual Night of Aspiring Artists at the kids school. This is a night that the school is turned into an Art "museum" with each child's art on display. I got some GREAT pictures! Great pictures of babyG atleast.

This is what I got of Big10. He is not camera friendly these days.
Pictured above is Big10's artwork. Below is the MusicMakers. Each grade preformed several songs and Big10 and the MusicMakers sang a couple of songs.
Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Music Makers~Fall Concert

At the end of school last year they held auditions for a choral group at school called Music Makers. Music Makers is open to any fourth and fifth grade student that chooses to audition. I was ECSTATIC when I heard that Big10 wanted to try out for the group!! I LOVE to hear him sing and of course I think he is just the best. I don't think he has any kind of future in the music business or anything, but he does have some musical skills going on. It is also nice to have some artistic stuff mixed in with all the sports.
This past Thursday night was Big10's first time to preform with the Music Makers at the Fall Concert. They sang about five songs, and they were all very good!! They had some pretty cute movements that went along with each song. The middle school advanced band and the high school show choir preformed as well. All in all it was a great concert. However, it was in the elementary school gym. . . .Gym = REALLY BAD PICTURES. I have yet to be able to get a good picture in that dang gym!!! And of course all the big stuff happens there. . . .Kindergarten graduation, Awards Day, etc. So, just bare with me. I tried to doctor these pic's a little and they are better than they were. Here's what I ended up with.

Mrs. Graham is the music teacher at the school, she is just the best!! Here she is introducing the Music Makers. Big10 is on the far right, very end, second row.

Here is Big10 making his acting debut. During this particular song, he came out and acted as if he was hiding out chewing gum during glass. That blue paper was supposed to be a huge pack of Wrigleys. He chewed his gum big for everyone in the gym to see until the "teacher" comes along and pops him with the ruler and he runs away!!
We had alot of happenings this past week, I'm not sure why I did not blog ALL week!! Monday, babyG had her cast removed. THANK GOODNESS!! Her doctor still has her on "low activity" for three more weeks. At that point he will hopefully release her and she will be able to get back to Gymnastics. BabyG also had her first field trip on Thursday. They had a "walking field trip". The school that they attend is in a VERY SMALL community. They were able to walk to the fire station for a tour, and learn about fire safety and such. Then they had a pep rally at school on Friday to kick off the big cookie dough fundraiser (I this!!) and red ribbon week. Red ribbon week starts Monday, during red ribbon week they learn about the dangers of drugs and why and how to avoid them. They also have a dress up day each day and it is my favorite week of the school year. It reminds me of our dress up days during homecoming week in high school, I always loved that crazy stuff!! So, I'm sure I'll be back next week with some fun dress up day pic's. And I can't believe Halloween is next week!!! We have not even gotten our pumkin or costumes yet!!!! I guess that tells you what I'll be doing this weekend!
Y'all have a good one!!
